Chinese Food Therapy Introduction

1. Chinese Food Therapy:
a practice in the belief of healing through the use of natural foods instead of medications.
2. Central Idea: keeping balance of "heat" and "cold" in a body.
One of the central ideas in this belief system is that certain foods have a "hot" or heat inducing quality while others have a "cold" or chilling effect on one's body, organs or "energy" levels. The idea being that one's imbalance of natural "heat" and "cold" in a body can cause disease or be more conducive towards sickness.
3. Philosophy about food: yin & yang
What is Yin Yang:http://www.sacredlotus.com/theory/yinyang.cfm

Yang foods are believed to increase the body's heat (e.g. raise the metabolism); and Yang foods tend to be dense in food energy, especially energy from fat. A person eating too much Yang food might suffer from acne and bad breath.
Yin foods are believed to decrease the body's heat (e.g. lower the metabolism0; andYin foods tend to have high water content.  A person eating too much Yin food might be lethargic or anemic.

Use Traditional Chinese Medicine in Daily Diet

The article compares today's American diet and traditional Chinese diet. It also gives solution and examples of how to eat your way to health with traditional Chinese Medicine.
"While American food culture is moving increasingly toward using additives to fulfill daily nutrition needs, the Chinese culinary world is still firmly rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that promotes the use of whole foods to create a healthy and balanced diet."

"If you’re a yin person (you often feel cold and are more withdrawn), you should eat foods in yang properties (meats, nuts, eggs).
But if your body is full of yang (you feel warm and are very talkative), then leafy greens will help balance you out."

I transfer my friend's friend who come from USA, She is good at cooking,( i don't know, my friend said that)  Here below are the steps.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Salt and pepper your chicken. Pour olive oil in a hot cast iron skillet. Place chicken skin down and surround with veggies. I used mushrooms, shallots and rosemary.
2. After five minutes, check to see if it's browned with tongs. Cook longer if necessary. Brown each side of the chicken for an additional five minutes. Pop the cast iron skillet into the oven and cook for 15-20 minutes or longer (the chicken needs to be 165 degrees internally.) The final step is broiling the skin for two minutes.
3.I steamed some asparagus and tossed in melted butter. (I Can't Believe It's Not Butter if you're being healthy.)
4. Isn't it pretty?

Short Introduction of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine (also known as TCM, simplified Chinese: 中医; traditional Chinese: 中医; pinyin: zhōngyī) includes a range of traditional medical practices originating in China. It is considered a Complementary or Alternative Medical system in much of the western world while remaining as a form of primary care throughout most of Asia.

TCM practices include treatments such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, dietary therapy, Tui na and Shiatsu massage; often Qigong and Taiji are also strongly affiliated with TCM.

TCM theory is extremely complex and originated thousands of years ago through meticulous observation of nature, the cosmos, and the human body. Major theories include those of Yin-yang, the Five Phases, the human body Channel system, Zang Fu organ theory, six confirmations, four layers, etc.
